Last night I went to the Grand Opening of a Nordstrom store in our area. There was food and champagne- wahoo for the open bar! I'd have had more, but part of my cutting back involves calories- yet another post. I love it how they liquor you up with an open bar so you’ll spend more money. It was a fund-raising event, so we each paid $75.00 to get in the door and spend, spend, spend.
During yesterday’s inaugural post I didn’t specify when the experiment would start. I’ve been pondering this experiment since late last year; during the spend-frenzy holiday season, during the economic downturn, and during the part where the company I work for utters the words “salary concessions”. That is a fancy term for, “we don’t have enough money so we are going to cut everyone’s salary in hopes of staying afloat”. I still have a job I love and am grateful for it, but it does have a certain effect with talk like that winging around. So I started to think about cutting back then, but hadn’t decided to do embrace the insane and stop shopping altogether and eBay a vast quantity of my life’s possessions--- right up until yesterday. So it seemed unfair just to jump right in, (unfair to me), so
THE OFFICIAL START OF THIS EXPERIMENT IS TODAY- March 4, 2009.
Why didn’t it start yesterday? See some very compelling reasons below. I deserved a Last Hurrah, and just wish I’d had a couple more glasses of champagne and been able to rationalize a bit more damage.
IF Eau de Parfum- APOTHIA Los Angeles $80.00 One of our first stops was in perfume. I adore perfume, even though I was raised in a household where my mom was allergic. To this day she can't be around perfume counters or anyone who is heavily perfumed. We met Ron Robinson, you can find out more about him HERE. Such a nice man! And in our little City! I had to buy this amazing Parfum AND this IF Body Lotion- APOTHIA Los Angeles $30.00 As a formerly "frequent shopper" at Nordstrom, I had $60.00 in Nordstrom Notes. For which I probably spent a couple thousand dollars to receive! So the damage so far would only have been about 60 bucks. Had I stopped at parfum and body lotion, I would have been fine. But I didn't-DAMAGES
